. this is something that the obama administration talks about a lot. the president took office, there were losing hundreds of thousands of jobs at the end of the bush administration into the obama administration. and now the fight has been, the political fight has been over the durability of the recovery and jobs since then. when you go to the right of that chart you can see we have been adding jobs now for two years but we haven't been adding necessarily enough jobs to every month keep up with the increase of people in the working-age population, and to recover all of those jobs that had been lost. so that's where we stand right now. 125,000 jobs is the forecast for today. about an hour and a half, and 7.9% is the unemployment rate. it's the last big hurdle before the election. the last big piece of economic news for both campaigns, and for people to weigh before they make the decision on who to vote for. >> it's not just economic news. it has all the political implications. especially in the final days. that chart we've seen on the political campaign on both sides of the debate. christine, than

of this whole process of the editorial board that four more years of an obama administration would change any of that, and particularly momentum on the economic front was just something that this board couldn't see. >> cenk: all right now everybody is here, ana kasparian, michael shure, jayar jackson, they join us for this conversation. as i listen to that i think that's one of the dumbest things i ever heard. now we have partisan gridlocks let's make sure that we award the republicans because they won't work with the democrats let's just award the republicans. >> you be are saying there is a partisan gridlock and then you want to give the guy that will give them what they want. i don't care what they're endorsing. i feel like as a newspaper you should not be endorsing anybody. i don't care in it's the editorial board i'm not interested in that. >> cenk: we discussed that earlier in the day. we know that newspapers have been endorsing candidates for a long time. why do they do that? >> generally the history of the newspaper endorsement was about the best chance for good change in that localit

upset with the obama administration the last four years. it is an open question as to whether obama would take the risk of taking on the nra and taking o very, very potent pro- gun forces that exist in congress in a second term. >> interestingly, as we talk about climate change not been raised in the three presidential debates by either moderate or the presidential candidate, it was somewhat similar with the gun control, the brady campaign against gun violence, waged a campaign to get the moderator of the first presidential debate in denver to ask a question a autut gun violence. it was in colorado, columbine, and bharara. the only time it was raised in the second of it was not because of a moderator, but because it was a town hall at hofstra and a regular citizen asked the question. >> and i thought the answer to that question was very revealing. you noticed, if you go back and e that transcript, president obama -- you notice, if you go back and look of that transcript, president obama basically give a tribute to the second amendment saying, well, the first thing to say is we of th

in the bush administration and there's always been a point of emphasis, if you will, on fema by the obama administration. i think frankly it won't have mattered who came into the presidency in the post katrina world there was going to be an emphasis on fema. you weren't going to let that get politicized. yes, it's a political appointee and you're going to have somebody who came with a background to do this stuff. so i think that they realize that it's a high-wire act, this emergency management business. and most of the time if you do a good job it's good politics. if you blow it, it's really bad politics. >> i agree. >> it can be unrecoverable politics. so this is a case where good politics and good public policy and good management all converge. it's good politics to do a good job. you're not playing one side against the other. >> you know, i've always thought that the democrats being the government party because they believe in government more than republicans owe a greater debt, a greater responsibility to be good at it, right? this is a little more ideological but it seems to me if th

unemployment rate. it's a positive for the democrats and the obama administration, at least short term. we know that the election is about the economy. it is about, you know, two different visions in terms of an obama plan that basically suggests raising taxes on the wealthy, you know, to lower the deficit and romney plan that suggests tax reform that ultimately will produce higher growth. you know, i'm not so sure that either one of those have been detailed specifically so that voters understand, but, nonetheless, that's what tuesday is all about. >> earlier this week, bill, you spoke to cnbc and you sounded a litt little, let's say, jaded about the election. let's listen to what you said and then we'll talk about it on the other side. >> we spent $5 billion on this election for what? to prove that it's a government of the superpac by the superpac for the superpac to prove that basically who wins at this point we'll be at four years in the future. but let's look to something different as opposed to this red and blue state theology that is basically the same. >> does the matter which candidates
